Testing a DTR sensor and demonstrating how easily it can be misadjusted. I can't list every possible symptom of a misadjusted DTR sensor, but to support the example in this video, I am listing the resultant symptoms of the three issues found.


REVERSE
Pin 9 & 11 OPEN (should be closed)
No Reverse lights when in Reverse.

NEUTRAL
Pin 10 & 12 OPEN (should be closed)
Truck will not start in Neutral. (This is the "Neutral Safety Switch" portion of the DTR sensor.)

MANUAL 2
Pin 2 & 5 OPEN (should be closed)
PCM will not know trans is in Manual2


NOTE: I did not test pins 7 & 8 in the video. These apply to the Neutral Sense circuit, and when closed, sends a signal to the GEM telling it the transmission is in Neutral. Years ago when I made this tester, I sacrificed a 2wd gas truck harness because I didn't want to destroy a much more valuable harness just so I could test pins 7 & 8. Since making this video, I have updated the tester to include testing of the Neutral Sense circuit, but I did not update the video.
