After Rock in Rio, Oasis play the Hot Festival in the Campo Argentino de Polo in Buenos Aires for the only time (their infamous show in 2006 is often mislabelled as being part of the Hot Festival, but it was only played in the same venue, and was just a regular Oasis gig) as they warm the crowd up for Neil Young. This show again features the same set as the previous show in Rio, though Roll With It is added back. I imagine this was to do with getting the audience a bit more hyped up for a larger portion of the show, as well as having a bigger timeslot. As for the performance, it’s very similar to Rio. Liam sounds pretty good here, as he’s pretty clean sounding all through the night. The rest of the band are in fine form, and though Gas Panic isn’t as mindblowing instrumentally as the other night, this is still a really great rendition of the song. Noel’s in fine form, and lets the crowd take over on the choruses for Don’t Look Back in Anger. Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a blemish by the end of the gig, as Liam is hit by a shoe on the head in Rock N’ Roll Star, and Noel takes over as he sulks. But despite that, he finishes the song and the band make it out in one piece. While it’s perhaps not as strong as Rio, it is still a very strong show for the year, mainly down to a stronger Liam than we’re normally used to for 2001.
