Since the war in Gaza began, the Iranian backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have been firing missiles and drones at Israel - but who are they and what do they want?

With increasing attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea, the rebel group now claim to have struck a British oil tanker in the Gulf of Aden.

The Houthis control a swathe of territory in Yemen's north and west - including the capital Sanaa and crucially, a long stretch of Red Sea coast.

The US government says it will designate the Houthis as a terrorist organisation.
