To fall in love and get excited for tea is easy! Every time we step out of the comfort zone there is a new universe to discover. This time we followed rumors about ancient tribal teas growing deep in the jungly mountains of northern Laos (Golden Triangle). The region is called Phongsaly where people harvest and worship tea the very old way.

Here we found this two-leaves-one-bud Dark Tea. It is compressed in bamboo shells made by local people from all natural raw tea varieties. The locals call it "Cigar Tea" - the numbers are limited.

The plantation area has no clear structure, so there are different very small plots of about 30-50 year old large leaf varieties (see Yunnan Large Leaf Variety) in single bush order and we also have old tea trees with a couple of hundred years in age.

All is made by hand! This is real craftsmanship. You can see that even the strings are all natural and a piece of art.
