A beautiful duet with John Fremgen and Sarah Sharp, kicked off the masterclass. Amazing class

Sarah Sharp’s Wednesday’s workshop introduced vocal jazz and how to use your voice as an instrument. Starting the masterclass off with a beautiful duet with John Fremgen and Sarah Sharp, kicked up a notch with Drummer Daniel Dufore and a great horn section. Lesson: the importance of accepting applause and your actions do have meaning.

Each day students, faculty, and family members were honored to have professional musicians in the jazz and blues industry take us to school during the masterclasses. These workshops taught valuable skills and provided an opportunity to ask the pros about music, and their experiences. A real treat every year has been to see our day-to-day instructors head to the stage to play along this jazz and blues greats.

A little information about the camp:
Texas Jazz & Blues Camp welcomes students from 11 to adult, with most in their mid-teens. Previous jazz experience is preferred but not required, as long as the student has the equivalent of 2 years’ experience on their instrument and has an interest in learning to improvise.
