"Pirin" Mountains: [Vihren - Kutelo - Koncheto ridge - Banski Suhodol]

Δύο χορταστικές μέρες στα όρη Πιρίν. Με τη ζάλη στις 3 ψηλότερες κορυφές και με την αδρεναλίνη να χτυπά κόκκινο στο πέρασμα του "Koncheto Ridge". Οι γίγαντες "Vihren" (2,914 μ.) - Kutelo (2,908 μ.) - Banski Suhodol (2,884 μ.)
Ήταν 28 Σεπτεμβρίου 2023 όταν ξεκινήσαμε τον ανήφορο για τους ασβεστολιθικούς όγκους στην καρδιά του Πιρίν. Πρώτος σταθμός ο "άρχοντας", το Βίχρεν. Η μέρα δεν ήταν ιδανική για μια τόσο ψηλή κορυφή. Δυνατός άνεμος και στρώματα νεφών. Ανεβήκαμε από την νότια πλευρά τον βραχώδη κώνο και φτάνοντας στην κορυφή είχαμε περιορισμένη ορατότητα. Με αυτές τις συνθήκες αποφασίσαμε να κατέβουμε από βορειοδυτικά με απότομη κλίση. Σε κάποια σημεία οι Βούλγαροι έχουν τοποθετήσει αλυσίδες που βοηθούν κυρίως στο χειμερινό.
Πρεμκάτα: Είναι η σέλα στα 2,650 μ. περίπου, που χωρίζει τις κορυφές Βίχρεν και Κούτελο. Δεν ρισκάραμε ανάβαση στο Κούτελο - Κοντσέτο γιατί τα σύννεφα ήταν πυκνά και αφενός το Κοντσέτο δεν αστειεύεται, αφετέρου δεν θα είχαμε τη θέα που θέλαμε.
Αφού απολαύσαμε το εντυπωσιακό βόρειο μέτωπο του Βίχρεν με τα "καζάνια" του (αν ο Όλυμπος είχε έναν αδερφό, θα ήταν το Βίχρεν), η μέρα έφευγε γρήγορα. Δεχτήκαμε τη φιλοξενία του καταφυγίου ανάγκης (τέτοια σημεία είναι πραγματικά για ανάγκη) και την επόμενη μέρα ο βελτιωμένος καιρός μας προέτρεψε για να ζήσουμε κάτι που ακόμη και τώρα μας έχει μαγέψει.
Αποφασίσαμε να ανέβουμε κατευθείαν την πλαγιά πάνω από το κεφάλι μας χωρίς να υπάρχει μονοπάτι αλλά η κορυφογραμμή του Κούτελο ήταν σαφής. Από κει και μετά ζήσαμε μια αξέχαστη διαδρομή Κούτελο - Κούτελο ΙΙ και αφού περάσαμε το μοναδικό πέρασμα του Κοντσέτο (τα κενά είναι τεράστια, δεν ενδείκνυται για άτομα με υψοφοβία, να αποφεύγεται με βροχή και δυνατό άνεμο), καταλήξαμε στην κορυφή Banski Suhodol (2,884 μ.).
Αυτές είναι οι 3 ψηλότερες κορυφές του Πιρίν. Την 4η είχαμε ανέβει χειμερινή τον Φεβρουάριο του 2023 και είναι το γρανιτένιο Πόλεζαν (2,851 μ.)
Η ομορφιά αυτών των ορεινών όγκων είναι απαράμιλλη και μας έχει συνεπάρει.

Two satisfying days in the incredible mountains of Pirin. With the vertigo on the 3 highest peaks and with the adrenaline hitting red on the "Koncheto Ridge" pass. "Vihren" (2,914 m) - Kutelo (2,908 m) - Banski Suhodol (2,884 m)
It was September 28, 2023 when we started the ascent to the limestone blocks in the heart of Pirin. First stop the "lord", Vihren. The day was not ideal for such a high peak. Strong wind and layers of clouds. We climbed from the south side the rocky cone and reaching the top we had limited visibility. With these conditions we decided to descend from the northwest with a steep slope. In some places the Bulgarians have placed chains which help mainly in the winter.
Premkata: It is the saddle at about 2,650 m., which separates the peaks of Vihren and Koutelo. We didn't risk climbing Koutelo - Concetto because the clouds were thick and Concetto is no joke, and on the other hand we wouldn't have the view we wanted.
After enjoying the impressive north face of Vihren with its "cauldrons" (if Olympus had a brother, it would be Vihren), the day was quickly gone. We accepted the hospitality of the shelter of need (such places are really for need) and the next day the improved weather urged us to experience something that even now has enchanted us.
We decided to go straight up the slope above our heads with no path but the ridge of Koutelo was clear. From here on we experienced an unforgettable route Kutelo - Kutelo II and after crossing the unique pass of Konceto (the gaps are huge, not suitable for people with a fear of heights, avoid with rain and strong wind), we ended up at the top of Banski Suhodol (2,884 m .).
These are the 3 highest peaks of Pirin. We climbed the 4th in winter in February 2023 and it is the granite Polezan (2,851 m.)
The beauty of these mountains is incomparable and has captivated us.
