Event Summary: Two years ago, President Obama announced his Climate Action Plan that outlined how the U.S. government is cutting carbon pollution domestically, preparing for the climate impacts we can’t avoid, and leading the world in the global fight against climate change. The U.S. EPA is delivering on a crucial piece of that plan with its Clean Power Plan that will cut hundreds of millions of tons of carbon pollution from U.S. power plants. This event will be led by the U.S. EPA and will focus on the Clean Power Plan and other aspects of the President’s Climate Action Plan that the EPA is delivering on. Further topics of this discussion include the EPA’s proposal of a national program to establish a second round of greenhouse gas emissions and fuel efficiency standards for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, proposed regulatory and voluntary approaches to address methane emissions from oil and gas operations, and international and domestic efforts to address the rapidly increasing use of Hydrofluorocarbons.
