Skullbusters are a San Diego based punk rock band entering the scene in 1981, their songs are a mix of traditional Southern California punk and the macabre, The band members were Brian Thoryk guitar age 16, Travis Davidson bass age 17, Paul Lima vocals age 11 and Damen Espinoza drums age 16, shortly followed by Darin Licari . The band played mostly in the San Diego punk rock club scene opening for groups like The Misfits, `Bad Brains, DOA, The Flesh Eaters, 45 grave, Minor threat, Shattered Faith and other San Diego bands at the time like the Battalion of Saints, 5051 and Sacred Lies. Skullbusters had one studio recording from 1982 appearing on the “Our Blowout” compilation. The band reformed in 2020 with three of the original four members Brian Thoryk, Travis Davidson, Paul Lima, with new members Junior Solis drums and Kevin “BABY” Hewitt organ. Travis Davidson has since been replaced by bassist John Klecker. Current music represents a mixture of original songs from 1981 and contemporary written work. The only full-length album “Vampires are Real” was released in 2022, the 10 song album with side A “Dark Side” and side B “Fast Side” was recorded at double time recording studio in El Cajon Ca and includes guest appearances by Jack Grisham of TSOL, Casey Royer of Adolescence/ D.I. as well a lead guitar solo by the Reverend Horton Heat. Most recently in June of 2024, Skullbusters released a 4 song EP titled “Hollywood Monsters”.
