About:
Mindful Poetry Moments, incubated in with The On Being Project, offers a chance to pause and reflect on poetry’s ability to encounter ourselves, the world, and the mystery of each other. This special collaboration began as a way to provide young students an opportunity to encounter poetry in the course of a normal school day during National Poetry Month and has expanded to reach poetry lovers of all ages.

This year–with presenting partners The Hive, WordPlay, The Mercantile Library, and Puffin Foundation West,–we continued to meet virtually in potent and nourishing hour-long sessions dedicated to meditation, a poem, and writing together.

For 2023 National Poetry Month, Cincinnati and Mercantile Library Poet Laureate, Yalie Saweda Kamara and Cincinnati's Inaugural Youth Poet Laureate, Rimel Kamran, selected our four poems to study, celebrate and respond to with new poems.

These are some of the poems created in April and published in our Fourth Edition of Mindful Poetry Moments.
