Dick Bowers, 66 years old, took his own life shortly after 6:00 pm yesterday evening after he shot 28 year old Deanna Wallace in her head. The situation is being reported as a stalking situation turned deadly. Apparently Bowers thought his relationship with Wallace was more than it was. He reportedly sent Wallace thousands of texts messages. The two ran into each other while grocery shopping and had an argument. They left the grocery store to return home. As Wallace was retrieving groceries from her vehicle, Bowers came flying up in his vehicle and jumped out. He immediately shot Wallace in her head. Wallace's sister tried to come outside to help her, but Bowers pointed his weapon at her causing her to slam her door shut and stay inside fearing for her life. Bowers then turned his weapon on himself and killed himself in the driveway. When first responders arrived, Wallace was conscious and alert while sitting up. Bowers body lay under a sheet just a few feet away. Wallace was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center where she was then life flighted to Toledo for better care. Once in Toledo, doctor's placed Wallace in a medically induced coma to help reduce the swelling on her brain. The shooting occurred at an apartment on the corner of Monroe and Fulton streets across from Cameo Pizza. We will release any new details as they become available to us.
