As many of you know Halloween is known for its pagan and religious roots, as well as its secular traditions. It's celebrated on October 31, the eve of All Hallows' Day, a Western Christian feast. Halloween's origins can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which was a pagan religious celebration that welcomed the harvest and marked the beginning of "the dark half of the year". Samhain was usually celebrated from October 31 to November 1. During the festival, people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts and spirits, who they believed returned to their homes on that day. This led to the association of Halloween with witches, ghosts, and goblins.
