Jeremy Kyle has claimed the inquest into the death of Steve Dymond has taken a “huge toll on him and his family”.

The 59-year-old broadcaster was dragged into disrepute when Dymond was found dead at the age of 63 after appearing on the star's controversial ITV show in 2019. The Jeremy Kyle Show was subsequently cancelled by ITV and pulled from the air.

An inquest had been held into the death of Dymond and investigated if there was a link between his death and his involvement in the ITV show. It had been reported that Dymond had taken a lie detector test as part of the show before he died - but the courts ruled there was no connection between the two events.

In a statement released after the inquest on Tuesday, Kyle said: “His Majesty’s Coroner has today clearly and unequivocally found that Jeremy Kyle did not in any way cause or contribute to the tragic suicide of Steve Dymond. He is now exonerated of that ill-informed accusation and his name has finally been cleared.
