The King In Yellow is a banned play generally regarded as having been published in 1895, although some claim that it was written earlier.

While many books and plays were banned during this time – The King In Yellow seems to have garnered a more notorious reputation, presumably because of the terrible imagery of The Second Act that led to outbreaks of madness or tragic events. Only a tiny amount of the titular play has survived.
