Congress M P K Sudhakaran has sharply criticized the Congress Leadership over the candidates’ list. Sudhakaran said that he was not willing to continue as the KPCC working president and that he was remaining in the post so as not to embarrass the party.

He alleged that AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and higher leader Oommen Chandy added their favourites to the list of candidates. “The winning probability and merit of the candidates were not the criteria for the distribution of seats,” he said.

When the list of candidates came out, hope was lost and leaders in Kerala misled the High Command. The Mattannur seat was given to the RSP without consulting the leaders of Kannur.

"The constituent parties should not be in a position to outpower the Congress. The KPCC should be led by those who can control the constituent parties," Sudhakaran said.

The issue is with the decision-making leaders- "Candidate selection was based on an attitude that did not respect our activities and opinions. Gopinath's problem could have been solved at the beginning. But, the leadership has no time to make any attempt for that."

"Everyone sympathised with Latika Subhash's sentiment. All Congress workers feel that their demand is just. There is no point in blaming them," Sudhakaran clarified.
