Tuff Stuff Stealth Aluminum Hard Shell Rooftop Tent - Short-Term Impressions, Mods, & Upgrades

This is an introduction and short term review of the ‪@TuffStuffOverland‬ Stealth Aluminum Hard Shell Rooftop Tent (RTT) mounted on my Nissan Xterra. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase (especially the size), and in the video I talk about some of the minor things I didn't like, and one bigger thing, which is needing to replace the mattress. It comes with a mattress that's only 1.6" thick foam, which is nice for compact storage but terrible to sleep on.

I purchased two of the iKamper 6944 self-inflating mattresses that measure 44"x69" and are just under 4" thick, and the two together perfectly fill up the floor of the interior and are amazingly comfortable. I also go over a few of the smaller modifications I've made to the tent in the few months since receiving it.

My tent is mounted on my 2nd generation Nissan Xterra with a Front Runner Slimline rack that's been modified to sit 2" lower/closer to the roof. Because of this, I can barely get a side-pull awning under the tent without blocking the doors, and definitely couldn't fit a 180/270 awning. When the tent opens and the shell rotates out, it takes up about another 9" of space, so mounting a larger awning next to the tent wasn't an option either.
