The Cat & the Old Rat

In a village farm house, there was a place where they stored their crops. This place had many rats living there, causing a lot of trouble for the owner. Unable to tolerate it any longer, the owner brought a big cat and left it there.

Despite the cat's best efforts, it couldn't catch the rats. No matter how fast the cat ran, the rats would escape into their hiding places.

One day, the cat was hanging upside down and playing from a beam. Seeing this, some of the rats thought the cat was dead.

Immediately, the rats shouted, "The cat is dead, we are free now!" Hearing this, the cat pretended to be truly dead.

However, an old, wise rat warned the others not to trust the cat. Ignoring the warning, all the other rats came out of their hiding places, making a lot of noise.

The cat, acting swiftly, pounced and closed the trap. The rats that had hastily come out of the trap couldn't return to their safe places.

Thus, one by one, they fell prey to the cat.

*Moral:* One should always follow the advice of the elders.
