Welcome to the second instalment in our short video series from MoDXtra looking at Gimmick Comic Covers from the 1990s. In this instalment Chris goes digging through his collection of X-Men comic titles from the early 90's to find the most shiny, eye-catching, novelty covers to do a little show & tell.

The 90s were the wild-west of crazy, gimmick comic covers and a young teenage Chris was the exact target audience ("sucker") for the likes of DC Comics and Marvel Comics. As he describes it in the video "I was just the sort of sucker" being targeted by Marvel Comics, blasting all of his paperboy money on these novelty comics.

Most of the books featured in this video are from X-Men titles published around 1993 & 1994. You'll see examples of hologram comic covers, foil comic covers, Chromium comic covers, Gatefold comic covers, and Embossed Comic covers from that time.
