The world's largest Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) is a multi-purpose irrigation project on the Godavari River in Kaleshwaram of Telangana. This Kaleshwaram project will provide water for drinking and irrigation purposes to about 45 lakh acres in 20 of the 31 districts in Telangana, apart from aiding Hyderabad development and Secunderabads water quench. Originally called the Pranahita-Chevella project, which was undertaken by the Congress-ruled erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, it was redesigned, extended and renamed as Kaleshwaram project after Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) came to power in Telangana in 2014.

The cost of the works too went up from a little over ₹40,300 crores to ₹80,000 crores after the redesigning. This Project was inaugurated on 21st June 2019 by Chief Minister of Telangana Mr.K.Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister of AP Mr.YS Jagan Mohan
Reddy, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Mr.E. S. L. Narasimhan the governor of Ap/Telangana.

Putting an end to the water woes, the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, to harness the floodwaters of the Godavari, is aimed at making Telangana drought-proof and stands as Telangana proudest project.
