AGASTHYARKOODAM TREKKING (FEB-MAR 2023)| AGASTHYA MALA | The Complete Trekking Experience

Welcome to my YouTube channel, where I share unforgettable experiences and exhilarating adventures! In this vlog, join me and my incredible group of friends as we embark on an epic journey to conquer Agasthyarkoodam, a majestic peak nestled in the lush greenery of the Western Ghats.

Agasthyrakoodam, also known as Agasthyamala, is the second-highest peak in Kerala, standing tall at an impressive elevation of 1,868 meters above sea level. This peak holds immense significance for nature lovers, trekkers, and spiritual seekers alike. It is said to be the abode of the great sage Agastya, who is believed to have meditated here for centuries.

With backpacks strapped on and spirits soaring high, we set foot on the challenging trails, ready to conquer the untamed wilderness. Together, we face towering cliffs, winding paths, and dense forests, testing our physical endurance and pushing our limits.

Throughout the vlog, you'll get a glimpse of the breathtaking scenery that surrounds Agasthyarkoodam. From cascading waterfalls to vibrant flora and fauna, the captivating beauty of nature unfolds before our eyes, leaving us in awe at every turn. Be prepared to feast your eyes on panoramic vistas and serene valleys that leave us speechless.

Here's a description of the Agasthyarkoodam trekking experience:

Permits and Permissions: Before starting the trek, it is important to obtain the necessary permits and permissions from the forest department. The trek is restricted to a limited number of people per day to preserve the ecological balance of the area.

Trek Start Point: The trek to Agasthyarkoodam usually starts from Bonacaud, a small village near Thiruvananthapuram. From there, you need to reach the base camp at Athirumala, which is the starting point of the trek.

Trek Difficulty: Agasthyarkoodam trek is considered a challenging trek, primarily due to its steep and rocky terrain. The trail passes through dense forests, grasslands, and rocky patches. It requires good physical fitness and stamina to complete the trek.

Scenic Beauty: As you trek uphill, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, waterfalls, and the lush green landscape. The trek also offers an opportunity to witness the rich biodiversity of the Western Ghats, including rare flora and fauna.

Camping Experience: Overnight camping is a part of the Agasthyarkoodam trek. There are designated camping spots along the trail where trekkers can set up their tents and spend the night amidst nature.

Sacred Site: Agasthyarkoodam holds religious significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. It is considered a sacred site and is visited by pilgrims during the annual Agasthyarkoodam pilgrimage.

Duration: The trek typically takes two to three days to complete, depending on the pace of the trekking group and weather conditions.

Best Time to Trek: The ideal time to trek Agasthyarkoodam is during the winter months from December to February when the weather is pleasant. The monsoon season (June to September) is generally avoided due to heavy rainfall and slippery trails.
