Between the 4th and the 11th of August 2025, my family and I took a cruise aboard MSC Seaside cruise ship around the Mediterranean.
The mandatory safety video is watched on your cabin television upon embarking the ship for the first time.
Once you've done that, your name is checked by staff, and you must also phone it in by calling the designated number.

These announcements blare through speakers all over the ship, including in your cabin bedroom, bathroom, balcony lobby (if applicable), lifts/elevators and so on.
To record the announcements I magnetically attached one of my Rode Wireless Pro microphones to the speaker in the cabin and closed the door, so it's as close to a direct recording as I could manage without having a patch-cable connected to the PA system.
The transcript is pasted below for those curious:


Dear guests, your attention please.

The showing of the safety video in your cabin TV will begin in five minutes.

Please tune your televisions to the following channel.

For our English-speaking guests, channel number one, participation is mandatory for all guests boarded today.

[Beeping]

Dear guests, the sound you have just heard was the general emergency signal.

Should you hear this signal, please follow the instructions that we will show you shortly in the safety video.

Dear guests, the video you have just watched can be viewed at any time during your cruise on the same channel.

Now please confirm you have watched the video by dialing the number 881 from your cabin phone.

Please hang up after the confirmation message.

Dear guests, may I have your attention please.

You can proceed now to your assembly station, indicated on your cruise card and behind your cabin door.

Follow the signs and instructions of our crew.

Do not use the elevators. Once you reach your assembly station, show your cruise card to our staff.
