By 1974, the North Vietnamese troops had violated the Paris Peace Accords and had renewed their attack on the south. It was clear the Republic of Vietnam would fall. In April of 1975, as North Vietnamese troops approached the southern capital of Saigon, President Ford ordered the evacuation of all Americans from the country.

This film shows the utility helicopter UH-1 as it turned up on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CVA-41) and the cargo helicopter CH-53D as it came in for a landing. It also shows South Vietnamese refugees as they unloaded from the CH-53D and went through a customs check. Former Vice President of South Vietnam Nguyen Cao Ky is shown as he walked away from the anti-submarine warfare helicopter SH-3G. Several of the flight deck crew are shown as they pushed some helicopters overboard. The command ship USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19) is also shown as it was underway in the Tonkin Gulf.
