Описание к видео Clashes at protest in Donetsk; OSCE negotiators leave without comment, self-proclaimed mayor speaks

(28 Apr 2014) Pro-Russian activists clashed with protesters holding a pro-Ukraine rally in the eastern city of Donetsk on Monday.
Police attempted to hold back the pro-Russians, some of whom had bats and shields, but then largely stood aside as dozens of protesters were battered.
About 1,000 people took part in the pro-Ukraine march.
Several protesters were taken to local hospitals, some with head injuries.
Meanwhile, a team of negotiators sent by the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to negotiate the release of seven military observers held hostage by pro-Russian militias in Slovyansk left without commenting on the talks.
Mark Etherington, the head of the delegation, declined to comment on the negotiations.
The self-proclaimed mayor of Slovyansk, Vyacheslav Ponomarev, said he believed the hostages would be exchanged for pro-Russian activists held by Ukrainian government authorities.
He said at least five people were on a list of names that would likely be made public in the coming days.
The insurgents in Slovyansk have increasingly turned to hostage-taking as they seek to cement their control in the east of the country in defiance of the interim government in Kiev, the capital, and its Western supporters.
A Swedish member of the OSCE group was freed on Sunday afternoon, reportedly because of medical reasons.
