It is time to finish up the Bayonetta trilogy. This game series has given me all the hack 'n slash love that I yearned for and I actually found Bayonetta 2 the best spectacle fighter game I have EVER played. Bayonetta 3 continues to deliver awesome action, but does also offer a few new gameplay types that don't really appeal to me personally. All the parts where you play as Bayonetta are great and even the new type of attacks where you utilize the demons are cool. At first I was afraid that the gameplay would be really slow because of how big and sluggish the demons are, but Madame Butterfly controls very fast and nimble.
But then there are the levels where you play as Jeanne and have to partake in these 2D stealth levels that are not that exciting. The levels themselves also don't look that interesting. The only good thing about them is that they are never that long and usually last about 5 minutes or so. Then there is also the new playable character Viola who focuses more on parrying and blocking instead of dodging. The gameplay for her simply was not that exciting and has been done better in other melee hack n slash games like Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry. The coolest thing she can do is summon a giant cat monster and have him fight for you.
All in all I still had fun with Bayonetta 3, but it did not come close to that perfection that I felt with Bayonetta 2. Maybe if we ever get a Bayonetta 4 they can channel that Bayonetta 2 magic once more.
