Описание к видео 🇲🇲 Myanmar, Ngapali Beach, Thandwe City. The Ultimate Travel Guide

In this episode of Bangkok Chili Peppers TV, Hodà (@dad_hoda) will show you the beauties of Ngapali Beach, located in the city Thandwe in Myanmar. Ngapali Beach takes the name from the city of Napoli, in south Italy. A legend says that one day an home sick man from Napoli was on this beach in Myanmar and reminded him, Napoli, so he named it Ngapali (Napoli) beach.

Suggested time to visit Ngapali Beach

The suggested period to visit this area is from November to May, you will avoid the rainy season and enjoy an average temperature of 30 degrees.

How to arrive

The most convenient way to reach Ngapali Beach is via flight, the airport name is Sandoway, city of Thandwe (SNW). You can reach the Ngapali Beach coast in 5-30 minutes by tuk tuk with 3-6 USD, this depends from where you stay because the coast is 7 Km long and divided in 3 main areas, north (close to the airport), central and south. The beach has a beautiful water colour everywhere and a lot of space. Ngapali Beach is still not a well know touristic spot.

How to move around

To move around rent a scooter or a bicycle, ask to the reception of your guest house.

Pearl Island

From Ngapali Beach you can arrange a half day tour to Pearl Island, ask to the reception of your guest house. Pearl Island and in general Ngapali Beach is not a good place for snorkelling and scuba diving, the visibility is poor almost everywhere, check the Mergui archipelago instead. The cost of a half day tour is around 35000 Kyat (26 USD).

Amata Mountain

Rent a scooter or if you have a decent fitness level a bicycle and reach the Tilawkasayambhu Buddha Statue on the Amata mountain to enjoy an amazing view. Suggested time is early morning or in the evening because the weather is hot.

Pagodas

Rent a driver (ask to the reception of your guesthouse) and visit the three main Pagodas that protect Thandwe city. If you have time ask the driver to bring you to the Thandwe market where you can find interesting stuff. The driver cost for half day is around 15 USD.
Shwe Nan Taw Pagoda: tallest Pagoda and the most beautiful, great view. Here is located the statue of the reclined Buddha and a part of a rib of Lord Buddha.
Shwe Ann Taw: nice to visit but nothing impressive.
Shwe San Daw: nice view, but the most beautiful pagoda remains the Shwe Nan Taw.

Nightlife, restaurants, bar and where to eat

The nightlife is completely absent. There are several restourants on the coast, for example the Ngapali and Seagull, on the central part of the coast. Soft drinks costs around 1 USD, cocktails 2 USD and seafood 4 USD. There are also several restourants along the Ngapali main road. There is Thai food influence in Ngapali Beach.

Extra

Try the typical Myanmar cigarette, if you visit Inle Lake you can buy on the 5 days market a special edition with sweet tobacco or banana taste, otherwise buy the classic cigarette in any supermarket in Ngapali beach. The traditional Myanmar cigarette are made rolling tobacco into banana leaves.

Suggested guest house

Three Seasons Guest House, excellent traditional breakfast everyday and great staff. Possibility to have a bicycle for free.

Travel equipment

This episode was shot completely on iPhone XS and DJI Spark, Hodà is very minimalist in terms of video equipment, he prefers to stay light and not impress people with cameras to capture original moments. Hodà rejected the offer from the TV channel to provide him better video and audio equipment. Hodà recognised the limit of 4K for the DJI spark and the need of an external microphone for the iPhone.
