After failing to stop the Russia-Ukraine war, US President Donald Trump is now focusing on ending the Israel-Gaza conflict. Many believe he is doing this to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
On 23rd September 2025, Trump met leaders from eight Muslim countries in New York Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, and the United Arab Emirates. He called it “my most important meeting.”
At this meeting, Trump presented a new peace plan. It includes a 20-day ceasefire and demands that Hamas return the hostages. Once this happens, a group of Islamic countries would take control of Gaza and help form a new Palestinian government without Hamas. The US and Israel also want Hamas to be disarmed and removed completely.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not part of this meeting but was informed about its details. The talks gained more attention after Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a defence agreement, with reports suggesting that more Muslim countries may join in the future.
Experts, however, are divided. While some see this as a chance for peace, others fear that a NATO-style military group of Muslim countries could make the Middle East more unstable and lead to bigger wars.
The success of Trump’s plan will depend on whether Hamas agrees to release hostages and if the Muslim countries can work together without causing new conflicts. For now, the world waits to see if this effort can bring real peace.
