One of the most controversial strategies in air warfare is the Royal Air Force's "air policing" in the interwar years. Developed by Jan Smuts, Hugh Trenchard, and Arthur "Bomber" Harris in Afghanistan, Iraq, Mandatory Palestine, and Yemen. In the Aden Protectorate, the new Fairey III replaces the venerable DH.9 in the attacks on Imam Yahya's Zaidi forces and those of the Subaihi tax revolt. A preview of the strategic bombing policies to come is shown through the RAF's bombsights in the 20s and 30s in far-flung parts of the Empire.
