Phaser comparison BOSS PH-2 SUPER Phaser VS MXR phase 90

A comparison of a 1990 BOSS PH-2 SUPER Phaser and a 2021 MXR phase 90 M101. Both effects are analog.

The BOSS has two settings 'MODE 1' and 'MODE 2'. BOSS described MODE 1 as 'Phase sound, deeply swelling from high frequency to low' and MODE 2 'A phase sound with sharp phase shifting effect'.

For this video, the first half has the BOSS PH-2 set to MODE 1 and the second half is MODE 2 so you can hear the difference.

NOTE - The BOSS PH-2 sounds quiet compared to the phase 90 but it is the phase 90 giving a noticable volume boost when engaged.

I used the bridge pickup on a USA Fender Stratocaster into a Marshall JTM-45.
