The water glimmers in the sunrise, the air is crisp, and every cast of the line feels like a reminder of the quiet, faithful work God calls us to do. Fishing isn’t just about the catch — it’s about patience, presence, and perspective. Every ripple, every bird, every small movement in the water tells a story that the Creator wrote long before we arrived.
While sitting on the bank or floating in the boat, rod in hand, I couldn’t help but reflect on Psalm 107:23–24:
"Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters, they see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep."
Even on a small river like the Banana, God’s wonders are everywhere — in the jumping fish, the gentle waves, and the turtles and birds that call this place home.
Fishing teaches patience and humility. You cast, you wait, and you learn to trust the process. James 1:3–4 reminds us:
"Knowing that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
Every missed bite, every line that goes slack, and every perfect catch is part of that work. It’s a metaphor for life — trusting God, staying faithful, and appreciating the quiet lessons along the way.
