Actress Gina Lollobrigida, once dubbed "the most beautiful woman in the world" after the title of one of her movies, is getting married to a man 34 years her junior.
Lollobrigida, 79, said that she met her husband-to-be, Javier Rigau y Rafols of Barcelona, Spain, at a party in Monte Carlo and that the two had been dating for 22 years.
The diva told Spain's 'Hola' magazine that "I have always had a weakness for younger men because they are generous and have no complexes."
The two will get married in New York before the end of the year, Lollobrigida said. It will be her second wedding. She was divorced in 1971 from Yugoslavian-born doctor Milko Skofic.
La Lolla as she is known as in her native Italy will join the likes of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and actress Joan Collins in the 30 year age difference stakes.
Joan Collins, the Hollywood actress and former star of Dynasty, married her boyfriend who is 32 years her junior.
The 68-year-old grandmother walked down the aisle for the fifth time when she wed Percy Gibson, 36 at the time.
British designer Dame Vivienne Westwood wed her former assistant, 27-year-old Andreas Kronthaler, when she was 52 , in secret in 1992.
He had been a fashion student when they met five years before, and she was reportedly so impressed by his design skills that she hired him on the spot. The quirky couple have been inseparable ever since, and the rest is fashion history.
