Available data serves as the foundation for all innovation and is crucial for sustainable development. It provides insight into the realities we face and is essential for building accurate models and making informed decisions.

While it has been emphasized repeatedly that we need more data, it's equally important to improve our ability to share this data with others! Services like EMODnet assist organizations in this regard, but data availability remains inconsistent (EU4Algae O1.17).

Data accessibility is particularly vital when discussing ecosystems and biodiversity, as these are complex systems that often involve outdated concepts representing various data states. How can we leverage available data to describe and comprehend trends in biodiversity and ecosystem sustainability, and what specific data are we currently lacking?

These are questions discussed in this joint Working Group meeting where we present new innovative tools and ongoing work in the field of blue bioeconomy and data.
