Where to Watch the Solar Eclipse in Missouri 2024

Are you wondering where to watch the solar eclipse in Missouri this year?

Parts of Missouri are fortunate enough to be directly in line with a total solar eclipse, offering a rare celestial spectacle.

Here’s where you can experience this rare event!

The best location to see the eclipse in totality will be in Southeast Missouri in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways Park.

Within the park there are a few places for optimal viewing. We have those specific locations listed in the link below, but if you’re looking for an all-day celebration… you’ll need to be in Van Buren at Big Spring located inside the park.

The Mark Twain National Forest Service is partnering with the National Park Service to bring the iconic Smokey Bear Hot Air Balloon for a rare event.

From 10AM to 4PM families will be able to meet Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl, and kids can earn their badge as a Junior Eclipse Explorer!

You’ll need to be there no later than 12:30 to fully enjoy the eclipse, which is expected to last 4 minutes.

And if you can’t make it on Monday the 8th… don’t worry. You can also view the Smokey Bear Hot Air Balloon glow on Saturday and Sunday Night!

It's important to note that regular sunglasses are insufficient for safely viewing a solar eclipse. Special protective eyewear will be necessary, which will be available at the event.
