Dario Fo, Nobel Prize winner and master of Italian theatre, often highlighted these deep ties — like how A Midsummer Night’s Dream echoes scenes from Ruzzante’s Anconitana.
From the word "zany" (born from "Zanni") to entire characters shaped by the rustic humor of Padua’s stages, Shakespeare's world was richer thanks to Italian comedy.
