You would be excused for never having heard of Bogor, Indonesia. Prior to visiting Jakarta, it was a secret to me, as well. It's only by visiting that I discovered that the city of more than one million people had so much to offer.

It begins with the Bogor Botanical Garden. That's the oldest such attraction in all of Southeast Asia. Move a little farther out of town and you can find verdant rice fields, amazing rain forests and the volcanic Mount Salak.

If you visit Jakarta, don't hesitate to take the short commuter train ride to Bogor. Take a look at this video, to see what you will find there!
