You just go to the examination office, pick up your degree, and that’s it. And honestly, I’ve been wondering why that is.

I get that German culture tends to value modesty and keeping a low profile and not showing off. But still, wouldn’t it be nice to have a few photos, some memories, something to mark a moment that took years of hard work?

I don’t think celebrating an achievement like graduation is “showing off”, like many people think. We celebrate birthdays, Christmas, New Year why not this?

It’s not about validation, it’s about appreciation. About honoring the effort it took to get there, with the people who supported you along the way.
