Franck Pourcel - I Can't Give You Anything

In 1975, when the disco 'craze' was conquering the world, the R&B/Soul group "The Stylistics" scored a number one hit in the UK with "I cannot give you anything (but my love)". The song did very well in Germany, France and the Benelux as well and the intensive use of violins in the tune attracted the attention of several orchestrators. Paul Mauriat, Bert Kaempfert and many other famous bandleaders recorded their own orchestral version and so did Franck Pourcel. Translated in French as "A quoi sert de vivre libre" the song made its way into French hitparades too - in Germany they preferred to keep the original title (as in the Benelux). Franck Pourcel succeeds in his mission when he combines 'modern' instruments with the 'classic' ones, first and foremost with his famous 'strings' of course. Here and there monsieur Pourcel ads some Spanish sounding guitar as well, which gives the tune 'that little extra touch of "finesse".
From the 1976 album "Amour, Danse et Printemps" here is "Le Grand Orchestre de Franck Pourcel" playing "A quoi sert de vivre libre" Enjoy.
