Dashcam footage from the Livonia Police Department showed the moment a stolen vehicle's rear axle, which was caught by a high-strength net, was ripped off after the driver attempted to get away.

Michigan State Police had requested the assistance of Livonia police on Thursday while troopers were following the stolen vehicle, authorities said.

Officers then responded to westbound I-96 near Farmington Road. That's where a Livonia officer deployed a safety tool called "the Grappler" to stop the stolen vehicle, a white Chevy sedan.
