Do These Paints "Spark Joy?" Reviewing ALL Kristy Rice Paintcrush Supplies!!!

Описание к видео Do These Paints "Spark Joy?" Reviewing ALL Kristy Rice Paintcrush Supplies!!!

Update: Kristy reached out to me to say that I must have received a brush with a varnish defect and to say if anyone receives a defective product all they have to do is email her at [email protected] for a replacement. She also said that the packaging on the watercolor tin was old and the pigment info is on the new boxes. The pigment info on the box is a list of pigments with no indication of what pigments are in each color.

Today we are taking a look at all of the Paintcrush art supplies designed by fellow YouTuber Kristy Rice. These products were sent to me for review. (affiliate links used)

These products are fun and whimsical. The packaging is beautiful and inspiring. The brushes all have encouraging sayings printed on them to help users get over the fear of painting. These supplies are just plain fun and Kristy's Charming YouTube personality can guide you through using them as well. I think if you are buying these products you are doing so because you are a fan of Kristy and want to support the work she does, also the tins and brushes are so pretty. I also must note that while I will be honest in this review I must consider that Kristy is an independent artist designing these products herself without the buying power of a large company behind her so her prices will be higher than other comparable products which in my opinion is fair because it is not stock white label products although she has hired out the manufacturing.

The brushes:
These were a dream to use, the printing on the barrels was crisp and perfect. The colors are unique and beautiful and most importantly they were easy to use and handled like a dream. I had the paint on one brush crack but other than that they were excellent and well priced. The travel brush is excellent, the size is great, it's beautiful and fairly priced.

The watercolors:
The tin is gorgeous, the edges are finished and not sharp and the color selection was unexpected, quirky yet very usable. I find using another artist's color palette to be a fun way to break out of a rut (which it did for me, thanks Kristy!) The paint itself is not what I would call professional quality, it is very similar to the budget Meeden and Arteza half pans but I will say most of the colors were unique so if you have those other sets and love them and want more you will like them. I think the majority of the cost for these paints is in the custom-printed tin.. There is no pigment info available for this set but it says that it is "dye boosted" meaning a mix of pigments and dyes for color saturation. The box claims a lightfast rating of 7 on all colors except the flourencents but without knowing the pigment info and seeing the pastel shades I would take that with a grain of salt. I would recommend these for fun, but not longevity. That said if you just want the tin Kristy does offer 24 half-pan empty tins with her designs but they are out of stock at the moment.

The silicone paint pot:
I always use 2 jars when painting so I love the idea of this. It is compact, works weak, and can easily be stored away for travel. I have never seen a silicone-divided dish before, it is unique and I think that factors into the price. It is light in color and stains. It is also light in weight and would be good for hiking out to paint.

The coloring book:
I had no trouble painting in this coloring book with Kristie's paints. I would rate the paper as cardstock more than watercolor paper but as long as you are gentle with the paper it will be fine. The pages are thick and printed on one side. I bet it would work well for most art media too.

Bottom line: These products are made for "FUN" art, to inspire you to paint and take the fear out of it and bring in the joy, and for that, I think they do a wonderful job.
