In the 1950s, poets Maxine Cassin and Richard Ashman began the New Orleans Poetry Journal Press publishing Sylvia Plath, Everett Maddox,Vassar Miller and William Stafford among many others. During this panel discussion, Gina Ferrara, Ralph Adamo, John Gery, and Martha McFerren will provide a retrospective on the operation and influence of the press which was often at the vanguard by publishing the early work of poets who would later achieve literary acclaim.
