ASMR Iron Bridges (soft speaking)

Описание к видео ASMR Iron Bridges (soft speaking)

Welcome to the long-time-coming follow-up to the Covered Bridges video. This time, we head out to slowly walk through four iron bridges.

These bridges are all generally contemporary to the covered bridges we walked through before, so the "time machine for the brain" aspect is still in full effect here. By contrast, though, the visual experience of walking through an iron bridge is wholly different. Iron bridges don't isolate us from our surroundings the way a covered bridge does. All the sights and sounds around us are in force, which is particularly useful in the autumn, when there is so much to see and hear.

We start this tour in August, and proceed through to the last day of October, giving us plenty of opportunity to see the change of the season. The video closes with a second walk-through of the third bridge, but 20 days later, to give a before-and-after example of how quickly the colors can change in this part of the country.

I always enjoy learning new things when working on these videos, and this one was no exception. I learned that there is frustration in the historical preservation community that old iron bridges are often scrapped and replaced rather than repaired and preserved, and that a covered wooden bridge is sometimes more likely to be preserved than an iron bridge of the same age and historical significance. That's a gross simplification, of course, but it should be enough to get you started with a Google search if you'd like to know more about this topic.

I hope you enjoy this slow, relaxed walk-though, and I hope you find it the perfect antidote for the stresses of the day, whatever they may be.
