A Form Factory 1 celebratory event was held Thursday to commemorate the completion of construction, start of trial production or iron-air batteries, and show appreciation to the Weirton community and state of West Virginia.

The event included formal remarks from West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, Sen. Ryan Weld, and Form Energy leadership, including CEO Mateo Jaramillo.

“I think it is kind of hard to state just how significant this is going to be, how significant this investment is, not just for the community of Weirton, but the region at large,” State Senator Ryan Weld said.

"And I think Form Energy is going to be the anchor for greater investment here at the former site of Weirton Steel."

“(The impact will be) $760 million and maybe even more,” Justice said. “Seven hundred fifty jobs and maybe even more. Goodness like you can't imagine, and that does not even count the multiplier effect of those jobs.”

Both Weld and Justice had the chance to tour the factory and said it’s truly remarkable seeing the process of what is being made right in the city of Weirton

"It is incredible the technology they are using that they are going to be exporting all over the country and all over the world for people to use batteries made here in Weirton,” Weld said.

"Almost like a surgical unit headed towards the future.”
