For this video we are back in the Hunter Valley to watch a side loader collecting recycling from residents of Upper Hunter Shire Council. The action was shot in the town of Scone, which is the main urban area of the large council serviced over a number of days. I swung by on two Tuesdays a year apart, failing the first time to capture anything, but in 2013 I caught both the Cleanaway garbage truck and JR Richards recycling truck. Whether or not it still operates I don’t know, but 0584 was the JRR vehicle I caught, being the typical medium sized 4x2 finger plate side loader the company used in a previous generation of trucks. As suggested by the signage on the body, this truck actually works between both Upper Hunter and Muswellbrook councils for recycle pick-up! I gathered the truck takes a load out of Upper Hunter early in the morning, then takes a load out of Muswellbrook later in the morning, returning to Upper Hunter again to complete any leftovers depending on the day. I videoed this ACCO during the second Scone visit one Tuesday afternoon to finish off the bins not handled on the first load. I remember I was having quite an unsuccessful day and was circling the incomplete area, waiting impatiently for this machine to show up. I finally gave up and was heading off, until I soon passed this side loader on the highway heading into town while I was heading out..... I spun around and chased.
