Carlton's fanbase is furious. Boos could be heard around the MCG after the Blues found themselves down 46 points to North Melbourne at three-quarter time and it happened in brutal fashion. North Melbourne kicked 8 consecutive goals, bridging the 1st to 3rd quarters, and Carlton didn't come close to asserting their dominance in that time. The loss was marred by what has plagued Carlton all season: indecision, disfunction, and a lack of execution as some costly lapses left Carlton severely compromised, even despite holding North Melbourne to 1 goal in the first and fourth quarters combined. Carlton's season is on the brink, and unless they can accomplish a miraculous turnaround like in 2023, they will be resigned to a September holiday, and Blues fans won't be mad about it (at least, at the moment).

Today, in this analysis, we break down the AFL Round 15 fixture's key moments, trying to understand who was more so responsible for Carlton's obliteration on the weekend, helping inform what needs to change in the bigger picture. We break down some key lapses, and things in the control of the coaches which can see improvement. We highlight some matchups that didn't work, some players that didn't perform, and some smart elements of North Melbourne's game which placed them in a better position to win the contest. To achieve this we analyse the AFL Round 15 fixture with some film, breaking down each element intricately with the aid of stats to understand how North Melbourne looked unstoppable in the middle two quarters, and equally where Carlton got it all wrong causing them to look severely second rate. We use it to highlight the contrast from the starting and ending quarters in this Round 15 fixture, and what changed.
