Goldnote Giglio & PH10 first play! Gregory Porter “Holding On”

After a good few hours unboxing and carefully setting up this beautiful walnut wonder it’s 2am, I’m knackered, but it’s time to spin some vinyl. First play...tough choice, but I went for this record in memory of my dad who passed away in April.

The cartridge I fitted is a Goldnote Vasari Gold MM, and the phono stage is the extremely versatile Goldnote PH10. Amplification courtesy of Quad’s fantastic Artera Solus - an all in one-box cd player, advanced DAC, bluetooth streaming pre-amp and 75w dual mono power amps (although seemingly much more power on tap than expected; drives my Kef LS50’s perfectly with total grip on the bass). It’s an extremely capable little system with flawless functionality whether spinning the silver discs, streaming from a phone, taking a digital signal from the TV via optical input or from my Innuos server via USB, or with analogue inputs as used here. Got to mention the superb build quality too. Feels like this thing is built to last!
