originally released in September 1939 as Columbia 35229, first reissued on the 2003 Collectors' Choice Music CD, "The Best Of The Charioteers" and heard here off the 2012 Acrobat CD, "The Charioteers Collection 1937-1948" (all three, of which, I own).

Formed in 1930 at Ohio's Wilberforce University, The Charioteers were Wilfred "Billy" Williams (1st tenor), Edward Jackson (2nd tenor), Ira Williams (baritone), and Howard Daniel (bass) with pianist James Sherman. Here is their debut single for the then-newly-relaunched Columbia Records. They had previous singles on Decca, Vocalion and Brunswick and have future releases on V-Disc, OKeh and Harmony by the end of the decade.

From their status as Bing Crosby's favorite vocal group to their recurring role as The Mystic Knights Of The Sea Quartet on the Amos 'n Andy Show, I won't say for sure that they are my favorite harmony group of this era but, they were hard to beat!
