CP train 114:
Take CP 114 (Vancouver Deltaport - Montreal) south from Mactier to Toronto.
In 2011, the CPR abandoned the Chalk River Subdivision between Smith Falls Ontario, and North Bay Ontario. Up to its abandonment, the Chalk River handled all freight from Montreal to Western Canada. Now, all this freight must move through Toronto and up the Mactier to reach western destinations. Today, you are in charge of CP 114, a Vancouver (Deltaport) to Montreal Intermodal train. At times, this train stops at Vaughan terminal to make drops and pickups, but not today. Today, you are running straight through to Agincourt yard in Toronto for a crew change. The next crew will take the train eastward toward its final destination of Montreal.

Canadian Pacific’s Mactier Subdivision runs for 127 miles from West Toronto to Mactier Ontario. It is CP’s main transcontinental line from Toronto to points west, so the traffic is a variety of general merchandise, plenty of intermodal, and the occasional unit train. The route was developed by Kenneth Shannon and Ted Kocyla. is pleased to offer this excellent route for free download. We liked it so much, we decided to do a trains and activities package to go with it.

TrainSimulations has produced a trains and activity package to use with the Mactier route. This package includes a selection of locomotives, rolling stock, and activities, circa 2004. Everything from distributed power equipped intermodals to heavy slow manifest trains are included, not to mention some challenging switching activities.
