Описание к видео Why I SOLD EVERYTHING to TRAVEL the WORLD 🌏

Hey there. I'm Buffer, and thanks for checking out my channel.

YouTube is a way to express myself creatively, share stories, and document a life well-lived. At least my attempt at it.

Views and subscribers are nice; they provide a form of validation, but that's not what I'm chasing. Storytelling is a craft, and viewer input and responses definitely help me improve my skills.

My passion for adventure started over three decades ago on a surf trip to Baja.

Something clicked on that trip—I discovered that the road, the ocean, and the unknown felt more like home than anywhere I'd ever been.

I also learned you didn't have to be rich to travel.

Since then, I've hiked the Appalachian Trail, walked the length of Israel, pedaled my way around Iceland, and cycled across the world's largest salt flat, among many other once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

And they weren't just trips; they were rites of passage. A string of moments that made me who I am today.

Seeing the world has made me a better person.

Surfing has always been at the core of who I am.

Later in life, I became involved in ultrarunning, adventure racing, and long-distance bicycle touring. Those pursuits challenged me in ways I never expected and kept me grounded even when life got complicated.

And life did get complicated.

In my late 20s, I swapped my backpack for a suit and tie and tried my hand at the traditional path.

But deep down, I knew it wouldn't last. Actually, I promised myself it wouldn't. I refused to get caught up in the trap.

Then I became a father, and that's when I knew it was time. At 36, I walked away from a very successful marketing career.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, understood it at the time.

But I was miserable, and how was I to continue working 60 hours a week when I had just been given the world's most amazing travel companion?

Together, my son and I have crossed the country numerous times, camped throughout Africa, and he learned to surf in Sri Lanka. He learned to fish in Alaska, we've hiked in the Himalayas, and even took a swim in the Ganges.

I wasn't always sure I was doing the right thing, but the results speak for themselves.

Now, he's off to college to carve his own path.

And I'm beginning my next chapter.

I sold everything I owned, rented out my home, and left the United States to travel the world full-time.

For the past six years, my channel has focused on off-the-beaten-path destinations, in-depth cultural explorations, and physical challenges.

Now, it's also about something more personal: what it means to start over at 55 as a solo traveler and empty nester.

People often ask what I'm looking for. The answer is simple.

I want every second of my life to feel incredible.
I want to experience each moment as if it were my last—
because one day, it will be.

If you're dreaming of life beyond the 9-to-5, living overseas, or trading routine for reinvention, if you want to retire into something wilder, simpler, and more meaningful. You will feel right at home here. This channel is for you.
