Today I recorded three pieces written by my old friend Riley Tucker. Well he's not old, but we go back a long time, since the heydays of Piano Society. I reckon the works must have been written around 2010 or so. Actually I recorded these in 2011/2012, but only the first (Despair) was published. Incidentally, the score of Despair was since then lost, but got recreated based on my performance. I promised Riley to rerecord them years ago, and he must have thought I'd forgotten.

I like these simple but heartfelt pieces, in which the composer shows his knack for wholesome and endearing tunes. I find Summer on the Farm quite difficult on account of the long dotted and tied notes in constantly changing meters. It's a counting exercise most of all, and I hope I got it all right.

The 'artwork' consists of a detail of Edvard Munch's "Despair" (1894), a textbook stalemate position, and a detail of "Summer on the Farm" Bernardine Stetzel. I thought that was appropriate ! The piano sound is Shigeru Kawai Grand Piano.
