We want to help you move from worrying about your kids futures to being confident in your kids futures. How? One way is by empowering them. To enable them to be kidpreneurs so they can take care of their own futures.

What do I mean?
It means encouraging a deep belief in themselves and in their OWN abilities.
As they move into teen years and then into adult life, they will need to rely on their inner strength and sense of self-belief to meet and overcome difficulties.
What does that mean right now? It means giving them a chance to say who they are, or perhaps to realize who they are as an individual.

Without self-belief, kids they will have a difficult time of it in life, they will be prey to others, will be followers, consumers, open to addictions and can easily become trapped in bad relationships, of the romantic kind and even the career kind.
How can you help your child in this way?
By encouraging, by doing, by standing back and letting them lead the way.
Let me tell you what I mean when I say ‘by doing’.
Once upon a time, our family was living in one house, then suddenly we were living in two. I knew that this would have an affect on my kids, and I wanted to find a way to empower. How could we both, as now shared parents, do that?
Well, I concentrated on what I could do.
For me it was by really opening their creativity, and using that to create something real, something tangible that they could not only hold up and say look what we did, but it gave them a method, a way to have a voice.
How? We planned, wrote and published a book together.
Now, how else did this empower them? Imagine it, they could hold a published book, in their hands, with their names on it, one that was now on Amazon for sale, a book, a product that they went on to sell at markets and are making good money from. And not only that, they have won two awards so far and now have 5 books with more on the way. They love to tell people they’ve written books, and they’ve been doing this for 4 years now, they’re currently 9 and 13 years old. They tell other kids how they can do it too, they are passing on their self-belief to other kids.
I’ll talk about the benefits of doing a project like this with your kids another time, but I can tell you, it’s immense and there are a lifetime of skills, learned from this one project.
So what to do… Pick something that you can do together, but that they can own at the end of it. Something they can be proud of. Make sure it’s not too difficult that they give up, which only makes things worse. My youngest son Jake has been asking a lot about the Amazon Rainforest, and as a now award winning author at 9, I think he can have a great impact on helping raise awareness, if even a little on saving what is a resource he and his kids will need in place in their futures.
Now that is empowerment.
