Union Home Minister Amit Shah set the political tone ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, urging people to support the BJP while targeting the Congress, Samajwadi Party and BSP over what he termed “dynastic politics.” Speaking at the state-level Uttar Pradesh Day celebrations at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Shah described Uttar Pradesh as the “soul” and “heartbeat” of India, asserting that the state is set to become the engine of a developed India by 2047. He criticised previous non-BJP governments for keeping the state backward and labelled Uttar Pradesh’s past image as a ‘BIMARU’ state. Shah said the BJP government has transformed Uttar Pradesh into a “breakthrough state” and stressed that both the Centre and the state government are working together to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and a developed Uttar Pradesh.
