When Olga was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 at just 45 years old, her world shifted. Originally from Colombia and now living in Florida, she was the youngest of six children in a large, close-knit family. Under the care of Breast Medical Oncologist Dr. Alejandra Perez, Olga continues to receive care at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center more than a decade later.

Beyond her personal journey, Olga has become a pillar of the Latina cancer community in South Florida. Recognizing the cultural and emotional barriers many women face after diagnosis, she founded Caminando con Olga (Walking With Olga), a foundation that provides wigs, heart-shaped pillows for post-surgery comfort, emotional support groups and connections to trusted medical professionals, including Dr. Perez and the Sylvester team.

Olga emphasizes how receiving care in Spanish has transformed her experience, allowing her and other Latina women to feel truly seen, heard and understood throughout their cancer care journey.
